Dutch language search marketing

Dutch - Germanic language in the lowlands

The Dutch language: an introduction

Dutch could be described as the halfway point between English and German. It is a descendant of the Germanic branch of the Indo-European languages and has evolved and simplified its structures further than German.

How many speakers are there of the Dutch language?

Dutch is spoken by 15 million people in the Netherlands - and in a very slightly different form in Belgium where it is known as Flemish and is spoken by an additional 6 million people.

What Dutch language issues do I need to watch out for?

Dutch uses the Latin alphabet with only very minor revision - and doesn't have cases or too many accents to cause any problems. One major issue for search marketers is deciding when to use a translated search term into correct Dutch - or what might well be the more popular adopted English version.

Which major search engines are important to Dutch speakers?

Which paid search engines target the Dutch-speaking world?
